Technical Recruiter

About the Team

Adaptive ML is a frontier AI startup building a Reinforcement Learning Operations (RLOps) platform that enables enterprises to specialise and deploy LLMs into production with measurable impact. We provide the core infrastructure to tune, evaluate, and serve specialised models at scale — pioneering task-specific LLM development and running production-ready workflows that serve millions of requests while optimising for both cost and performance across distributed systems.

Our tightly-knit team was previously involved in the creation of state-of-the-art open-access large language models. We raised a $20M seed led by Index Ventures and ICONIQ in early 2024, and we’re already live in production with customers including Manulife, AT&T, and Deloitte, across travel and financial services — with much more to be announced soon.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Technical Recruiter to own and drive the full hiring lifecycle for our engineering, research, and product functions. Based in Europe and reporting to the Global Talent Lead, you’ll be the dedicated talent partner for our technical leadership team, translating product and engineering strategy into clear hiring plans and building best-in-class pipelines to support rapid growth across a globally distributed team.

This is a high-autonomy, high-ownership role. You won’t just fill roles — you’ll design and improve the processes, systems, and standards that underpin how we attract and hire technical talent. You’ll have the freedom to shape the recruiting function from the ground up, and the expectation that you’ll hold yourself and the business to an incredibly high bar.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own and run the full-cycle hiring process for all technical roles — Engineering, Machine Learning, Research, Infrastructure, and Product — including sourcing, screening, interview coordination, closing, and onboarding.

  • Partner closely with engineering, research, and product leadership to understand hiring needs, calibrate on candidate profiles, and build a hiring roadmap aligned with the technical vision.

  • Build and maintain best-in-class talent pipelines for highly competitive technical roles across Europe and globally, with deep knowledge of the European engineering and AI/ML talent market.

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve recruiting processes — from sourcing strategies and technical interview loops to ATS workflows — ensuring quality, speed, and a standout candidate experience.

  • Coordinate cross-functional interview panels, identify and train internal technical interviewers, and maintain a consistently high bar and rigorous evaluation standards.

  • Build hiring metrics and reporting, providing clear insights on pipeline health, time-to-fill, conversion rates, and process bottlenecks to leadership.

  • Represent Adaptive ML externally through proactive outreach, tech community engagement, events, and direct engagement with passive candidates in the European and global technical talent market.

  • Operate in an async-friendly, distributed environment — documenting processes, updates, and insights clearly for cross-timezone collaboration.

Your (Ideal) Background

We encourage candidates to apply even if their experience doesn’t match every point below.

  • 5+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition or Recruiting, with a strong focus on technical hiring (Engineering, ML/AI, Research, Infrastructure) in high-growth or technically complex environments.

  • Proven experience hiring across multiple technical functions and seniority levels, from IC engineers to senior technical leadership.

  • You’ve been through a rapid scale-up: you know what it takes to build recruiting processes from scratch, implement them under pressure, and iterate as the organisation grows.

  • Strong business partnering skills — you can engage credibly with senior technical leaders, challenge hiring briefs when needed, and drive alignment on talent priorities.

  • Experience building structured technical interview processes and scalable, repeatable recruiting workflows with a focus on quality and consistency.

  • Deep familiarity with the European technical talent market, including knowledge of local employment norms, visa/work-permit considerations, and competitive dynamics across key hubs (Paris, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, etc.).

  • Hands-on experience with Ashby as your ATS, and proficiency with a range of generative AI and modern sourcing tools (e.g. LinkedIn Recruiter, hireEZ, Gem, or similar) to build and manage high-quality pipelines efficiently.

  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, competitive hiring environments, managing multiple priorities without dropping the bar.

  • Strong candidate-facing skills, with the ability to clearly communicate company vision, technical challenges, and the opportunity to prospective hires.

  • Genuine interest in AI/ML and motivation to help build the team behind foundational technology.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package benchmarked to local market.

  • Private health insurance (or top-up to national coverage, depending on location).

  • Pension contribution or equivalent retirement benefit.

  • Unlimited PTO — we strongly encourage at least 5 weeks each year (in addition to local statutory leave).

  • Mental health, wellness, and personal development stipends.

  • Visa sponsorship available if you wish to relocate to Paris.
