Fraud Investigator

We’re looking for a Fraud Investigator to join our Hyderabad team. This is a hybrid role. In this role, you’ll help us protect our ecosystem by identifying and mitigating fraudulent activity, ensuring a safe and trusted platform for our consumers, riders and partners.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be joining the Trust Tech (Fraud Operations) team. The Trust team works to build trust and keep bad actors out of all sides of our marketplace: consumers, riders and partners. You will work within our fraud operations team to investigate fraud and abuse through automated decision-making, help the business understand the root cause of issues and highlight areas of improvement for our product and data science teams.

Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:

  • Conduct in-depth investigations: Review customer claims and historical data to identify behavioural patterns indicative of potential abuse and assess supporting evidence.

  • Synthesize marketplace signals: Combine and consider a range of signals across all areas of fraud and abuse at Deliveroo to build a comprehensive risk profile and submit individual assessments in a timely manner.

  • Optimise policy and detection: Provide actionable feedback on policies relating to consumers, riders and partners, highlighting potential gaps in our fraud detection and prevention methods.

  • Balance customer experience and risk: Evaluate top-tier customers to ensure they receive the highest quality of service while maintaining a balance between customer satisfaction and adherence to Deliveroo's compensation policies.

  • Maintain operational excellence: Achieve productivity and quality expectations while adapting fluidly to the changing requirements and fraud trends of the business.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others:

  • Meticulous attention to detail: A proven commitment to thoroughness, precision and accuracy when evaluating complex information.

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills: Competency in interpreting data, collating info from multiple sources (including data dashboards) and translating it into objective outcomes.

  • Technical proficiency: Comfort using document and spreadsheet software (Google Workspace or Microsoft Office) alongside a proactive approach to learning new fraud detection systems.

  • Excellent communication skills: Strong written and spoken English communication skills to document cases clearly and collaborate effectively across teams.

  • A growth mindset: A natural curiosity to learn and develop within the fraud and abuse domain, with the initiative to take on new responsibilities as fraud patterns evolve.
