Position Details

At Rakuten, Senior Engineering Managers lead and oversee multiple engineering teams, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products and solutions. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and strategic planning to deliver business and customer value.

The BSS platform has extensive touchpoints with multiple actors within and outside the company and our system needs to tackle this complexity by proper product, architecture design as well as engineering practices.

As an engineering organization, our role is to bring balance between short terms delivery and long-term scalability. Being responsible for the organization roadmap and delivery, senior managers are key towards our success.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- 8+ years of experience in a software engineering including 3+ years in leadership role

- Experience with people management (10+ members), including hiring and evaluation

- Proven track record for delivering software solutions

- Excellent communication including cross functional and various stakeholders' communication

- Demonstrated customer-oriented mindset in either B2B or B2C product development

- Hands on experience using cloud technologies

- Knowledge of the entire software lifecycle and ability to define methodologies and measurement methods for each phase (from design to deployment)

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience in large and distributed systems

- Experience in managing geographically distributed and global teams

- Familiarity with agile development methodologies

- Experience working in large engineering organization (200+)
