Position summary
The Technical Trainer Lead prepares staff at a state workforce agency for each major launch milestone of Nava's paid family and medical leave benefits solution. They design and deliver role-based train-the-trainer sessions for the agency's claims adjudicators, appeals judges, contact center agents and supervisors, product owners, and leadership. The role also manages the training environment and assesses staff readiness ahead of each milestone. It bridges the agency's business operations and Nava's technology teams to ensure the program works in practice for the people who use it.
The role has no direct reports and succeeds through influence rather than authority. It establishes training standards and templates for product managers and designers to follow, evaluates quality through readiness checks and accessibility and plain-language reviews, and escalates gaps to the Program Manager and Senior Program Manager. The role does not own the materials individual teams develop for their respective solutions, the Knowledge Base, the release calendar, or release go/no-go decisions.
What you'll do
Design and deliver role-based train-the-trainer sessions built on real job scenarios, co-led with agency super-users from the first milestone.
Run a training sandbox (with a Nava engineer, using synthetic data) and run scripted readiness checks before each milestone. Report readiness to Program Leadership on a metrics dashboard they design.
Set the templates and content standards (plain language, Section 508) that product managers and designers follow; update training after every release.
Hand over editable materials so the agency can keep training after Nava leaves.
Required skills
10 to 15+ years designing and delivering role-based training, including train-the-trainer, for government or other regulated operations staff.
Adult-learning instructional design built around real job tasks and scenarios.
Experience keeping training in step with agile releases or milestones.
Plain-language writing, plus training or certification in Section 508 accessibility.
Facilitation and influence skills; has led without direct authority.
Client-facing: bridges business operations and technology teams and represents the employer to stakeholders.
Please note: Consultants/Contractors are not eligible for Nava benefits unless hired in a full time capacity.
Compensation is in hourly rate
