We are seeking a backend Senior Software Engineer to join our Ads Measurement & Audience team and build a pioneering measurement and audience platform that empowers advertisers and unlocks the full potential of Roblox’s unique advertising ecosystem.
Roblox Ads team is one of the company’s newest and fastest-growing teams, dedicated to revolutionizing advertising in the immersive metaverse. We strive to establish Roblox as the leading platform for immersive advertising, delivering transformative experiences that benefit advertisers, creators, and users alike.
In this role, you'll be instrumental in developing sophisticated systems that enable precise measurement of ad performance and effectiveness, connect advertisers with the right audience and deep insights into advertiser ROI, moving beyond conventional solutions to comprehend measurement within a 3D, interactive environment.

You Will:
- Design and implement precise incrementality solutions such as conversion and brand lift studies, to evaluate advertising effectiveness.
- Design and implement sophisticated attribution models and identity matching solutions that operate at scale, providing advertisers with a holistic view of their campaigns performance.
- Develop seamless integration with various 3rd-party measurement partners to offer comprehensive insights such as viewability, brand safety, audience reach and audience verification.
- Develop and optimize audience segmentation and management systems (demographic, interest, behavioral, lookalike) that empower advertisers to reach their desired audiences with precision.
- Lead the technical strategy and implementation of ad privacy solutions (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) and Privacy-Enhancing Technologies like Clean Rooms, ensuring our platform is robust, compliant, and future-proof.
- Architect and build highly scalable, fault-tolerant data pipelines and backend systems to process massive datasets to support all core measurement solutions mentioned above.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define roadmaps, set priorities, and deliver high-impact projects that shape the future of Roblox advertising.
- Mentor and guide engineers, contribute to a world-class engineering culture, and drive the team toward innovation and results.
You Have:
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years in software development is required, with at least 2 years specifically dedicated to developing advertising systems. Experience with measurement and audience products is preferred.
- Proven success with developing real-time systems and large-scale data processing pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, fostering a respectful, high-impact engineering culture.
- A creative, strategic mindset for navigating complex technical and organizational challenges, working closely with Product to ensure clarity and alignment.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
