I joined WeTravel 6 years ago as an Account Executive helping Peruvian tour operators grow. Since then, I’ve built teams across Latin America, helped scale our presence in Africa, and now I’m based in our Amsterdam HQ leading expansion across EMEA.
Africa has been one of the most exciting journeys so far. We built strong teams in East and North Africa, and what started as an experiment quickly turned into real, meaningful growth.
Now we’re ready for the next chapter.
We’ve been testing South Africa for the past year, and the opportunity is there and the market is ready.
This role is about taking that early traction and turning it into solid, structured, and scalable.
I’m looking for a Sales Manager to lead our South Africa expansion. This is not a “manage from a dashboard” type of role. This is for someone who wants to get close to the market, understand the customers deeply, and build something from the ground up.
You’ll be leading a team of 4 Account Executives, with plans to grow it further. But before anything else, you’ll need to truly understand the game… the product, the customers, the market dynamics, and what it actually takes to win deals here.
At the beginning, expect to roll up your sleeves:
Speak directly with prospects
Talk to existing clients
Do your own discovery and build a real point of view on the market
From there, your job is to turn that into strategy, coaching, and results.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You’re not here to just track numbers. You’re here to build people, shape how we sell, and help the team perform at a high level.
👉 This is a remote role. You might be required to visit Amsterdam HQ for training.
This role is not for everyone, but it can be a defining step in your career if you’re the right person.
You Should Apply If You:
You’ve been an AE before and truly understand what it takes to win deals end-to-end… not just manage people from the outside
You care deeply about building people… and get real satisfaction from seeing your team grow and perform
You naturally jump into deals, calls, and prospecting when needed… you don’t wait to be asked
You’re comfortable starting with little structure and figuring things out by talking to customers, not just looking at reports
You think in terms of business problems and outcomes… not just features or scripts
You’re direct, honest, and constructive when giving feedback… and your team actually improves because of it
You enjoy being close to the market… understanding customers, spotting patterns, and turning that into how the team sells
You Might Not Be The Right Fit If You:
You see your role as mainly tracking numbers, building reports, and reviewing dashboards
You’ve been removed from selling for a while and don’t enjoy getting back into the details of deals
You wait for a clear playbook before acting, instead of creating one through action and iteration
You avoid difficult conversations or struggle to challenge your team when performance is off
You prefer stable, clearly defined environments over building something that is still taking shape
You’re more comfortable managing processes than influencing people
Benefits
Attractive compensation - uncapped commission. Base Fulltime Salary is $39,600 (USD) (On Target Total Earnings= $60,000-65,000).
Full-time - Fixed Term Contract (as International Contractor).
